Cooler Master HAF X RC-942-KKN1

Conclusion: The Steel body gives it a good weight and very solid feeling body. It has a rugged styling which very much stands out from the crowd. There is the lack of dust filter on the PSU intake vent. Without this your PSU will attract a lot of dust and this will require regular cleaning. The front panel includes USB 3.0 and the case takes good care of the wiring, a completed build looks very tidy. Two other strong points for the HAF X are its flexibility, with room for the largest graphics cards and mainboards and its cooling performance.

Bundle:

Cooler Master provides a good bundle with the HAF X, there are additional cables like a 12v PSU wire extender, a manual and cable ties. Also included is a bracket for GPU installation and a set of wheels for the bottom of the case.

Test Setup:

  • CPU :AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
  • CPU Cooler : Cooler Master V6GT
  • Graphics Card : GeForce GTX 470
  • HDD : Hitachi 500GB, 7200RPM
  • Memory : 2x2GB DDR3 1600MHz G.Skill
  • Motherboard : ASRock 880G Extreme3
  • PSU : 750W
  • SSD : Gelid Falcon 64GB
Airflow and temperatures:

The system generates huge amount of airflow, In terms of temperatures the readings taken from the AMD based system were excellent in this case. The passively cooled motherboard remained very cool.

Benchmarks:

Case temperatures, noise measuring.

Cooler Master HAF X RC-942-KKN1 Based on the HAF 932, Cooler Master used inspiration from customer feedback to manufacture this new and improved high performance case for the enthusiast computer builder, the Cooler Master HAF 942, or HAF X (High Air Flow series) as it is marketed. The interior of the HAF X has been fully redesigned and new features are included. The top of the case is all new, and the look and feel remains similar but has been subtly changed when compared to the HAF 922 and 932.

Conclusion:

The case offers great features and excellent airflow, with even more cooling capacity on hand for those who wish to push beyond the original configuration. Support for the largest add-in boards and lots of storage options really are a plus.

The Fans:

The HAF X features a red LED illuminated front fan, which can Be turned off, this 230mm in diameter fan provides airflow in to the case directly over the internal hard drives. The HAF X has 2 more fans: a Side fan of 200 x 30mm and a rear fan of 140 x 25mm.

Working inside the case is very easy, providing lots of room for hands and tools. Cables are hidden away as much as possible. To that end the HAF X provides lots of extruded cable tie points, for helping route cables to your satisfaction.
